I-Search Grading

Process:

• You will be required to successfully complete every single process activity we do for the I-Search paper.  No exceptions.

• Process work will be worth only 1 point.

• On each process assignment, you will get a grade of M, 0, or 1.

• M = The assignment was missing.  I never saw it.

• 0 = You handed the assignment in, but it was not satisfactory.  You need to redo the assignment.

• 1 = You handed the assignment in, and it was satisfactory.  Good job!

• Every single process assignment needs to be a “1” BEFORE you are allowed to hand in your paper.

• If you get a grade of M or 0 on an assignment, I will call home.

• If you need help completing an assignment satisfactorily, I will offer you opportunities for assistance.  For example, you may stay after school, or find me to work on your paper during Guided Study days in Advisory.  You may be required to use these opportunities if you seem to be falling behind.

• If at any time you have two M or 0 grades in the gradebook, more interventions will be available to help you get caught up, and you will need to spend more time outside class working on your paper.

Paper:

• The final paper is worth 200 points, which is about _ your grade for the entire trimester.

• Every student will write the I-Search paper to a 70%.  There are no D grades on the I-Search.  Anything below 70% is failing.  If you hand in your paper, and it is below a 70%, you will have to keep rewriting it until it is a 70%.  I will provide you with the instruction and resources you will need to be successful on this paper.

You must pass your final paper in order to get credit for English 12 this trimester.

If you have any questions, please ask your teacher for assistance.

Review the I-Search Rubric carefully so that you remember exactly what the expectations are for each part of your paper.  Check each part as you go and avoid having things turned back to you for multiple revisions.
