Organizational Tips

Get started right away—don’t wait until the last minute.

• Keep a calendar with due dates on it.

• Get notecards right away, hole punch them, and keep them on a ring in a binder or notebook.  That way you won’t lose them.

• Take it step by step so you don’t get overwhelmed.

• When you are taking notes, remember to include the author and page number on each notecard—this info is essential later when you start to write.

• Organize your notecards into different pockets based on topic.

• Use Inspiration software to organize your thoughts and research into paragraphs (we’ll do this in class!)

• DON’T LOSE ANYTHING!

• Pay attention to the directions—that way you won’t have to redo things.

• Save, save, save!  Always save to MORE than ONE place, just to be safe.

• Because you will spend so much time on this paper in and out of class, you will need to purchase a flash drive.

How Will This Be Graded ?????

Review the I-Search Rubric carefully so that you remember exactly what the expectations are for each part of your paper.  Check each part as you go and avoid having things turned back to you for multiple revisions.
